Course Contents

Lecture concept, giving resource books, the structure of atom, the concept of conductors and insulator, the fundamental concepts of electrical fields, electrical test equipments, electrical energy, thermostats, relays and contactors, the devices for protection circuits, capacitors, electrical and electronic equipments, Ohm laws and solving related problems, serial and parallel connections of resistance and solving related problems, Kirchhoff laws and solving related problems, direct and alternative current and load types of them, electric motors, types of them and the principle working of them.

Weekly Schedule

1) Course content, information about resource books . Atomic structure, conductor, insulator concept
2) Comprehend the basic concepts of electricity
3) Recognize electrical measuring devices and practise their connection to the circuit
4) Ohm's law and solving examples
5) Serial and parallel connections of resistances, related problems
6) Kirchhoff's laws, the sample problems
7) DC and AC current concept, electrical power concept
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) AC current load types
10) Capacitor definition, structure, types. Faulty capacitor change, the capacitor test
11) Electric motor principles, their working principles, types of electric motors and their working principles
12) Single-phase motor starting switches, structure, types and working principles, definition of overcurrent relays, types, operating principles
13) Relays and Contactors' structure, operating principles
14) Transformers, structure, working principles and related problems
15) Thermostats, structure, types and working principles
16) Final examination
