Course Contents

This lesson covers the basic heating, ventilating, Air Conditioning and refrigeration systems, operating laboratory test units, getting the results calculations and making the conclusions.

Weekly Schedule

1) Course content and information about resource books. Recognition of the laboratories and the general assessment
2) Basic cooling experimental apparatus
3) Basic refrigeration cooling applications with the experimental device, experimental observation of the process, understanding the basic and assistant staff duties and working principles
4) Commercial refrigeration testing equipment
5) The applications made with the commercial refrigeration cooling system, the principles of the working of main and assistant control elements of cooling system, and the necessary settings
6) Mechanical heat pump test apparatus
7) Mechanical explanation of the principle of heat pump operation, the heating effect of coefficient calculations, the system parameter change made in an parameter and its effect on others
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) The calculation of the heating effect coefficient taken as a result of the experiments, alculation, calculation of the heat pump efficiency curve using different sources and temperatures
10) The comparison of the ideal and real cycles on pressure-enthalpy diagram, and determining the energy levels, analyzing the effect of compressor compression ratio over volumetric efficiency
11) Computer-assisted air-conditioning test device
12) To understand the air cooling operations with the experiments conducted, draw the psychrometric diagram on computer and make the necessary calculations
13) Recognization of the processes of air conditioning (heating, cooling, humidification, drying) and application of them
14) Cooling device fault detection experiment
15) The duties of main and assistant elements of the cooling system, normal working conditions of the cooling system, to detect the basic mechanical failures
16) Final examination
