Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Explain the need and techniques of preventive maintenance.
2) Explain the necessity of proper maintenance and service applications, duties of tools and equipments.
3) Comment the equipment manuals and data, and diagnose some basic faults in the system.
4) Identify the fault diagnosis methods in the systems, testing procedures and test equipment applications.
5) Diagnose some basic faults in the circuit elements.

Course Contents

Understanding basic troubleshooting procedure, troubleshooting of control systems, demonstrates, tools, procedures for working with refrigerant and oils, techniques for tracing problems, explain the need and techniques of preventive maintenance, the necessity of properly maintenance and servicing of shop tools and equipment, the further develop the students knowledge and understanding of the philosophy established maintenance and preventive maintenance practices, iınterpretation of equipment manuals and data as the basis for fault diagnosis, the “systems” method of fault diagnosis, recognized testing procedures and test equipment applications, iındependent problem solving and fault diagnosis.

Weekly Schedule

1) Course content and information about resource books, troubleshooting methods
2) Discussion on the inner and outer reason of cooling system failures, logical approach to fault diagnosis
3) Fault diagnostics in compressors
4) Failure causes of Different models and types of compressors', and how to fix these failures
5) Fault diagnostics in Evaporators and condensers
6) Evaporators and condensers' failures and fix these failures
7) Expansion pipe elements and failure diagnostics in pipes
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Failure diagnostics in expansion components and pipelines, and troubleshooting
10) Failure diagnostics in Cooling control circuits
11) With the help of suitable devices failure diagnostics in Household type, commercial and industrial types of control circuits, cooling systems
12) Failure diagnostics in Local air conditioning equipments
13) Interfere with bacis failures in the local type air-conditioning devices
14) Failure diagnostics in Central air-conditioning systems, the failure situations that may arise, and fixing these failures
15) Listing the failures that may arise in air conditioning equipment's electrical control circuits and fixing them
16) Final examination
