Course Contents

This course covers; Road infrastructure, Road Vehicle, the Drainage, Engineering Works, Maintenance and Repair of Roads.

Weekly Schedule

1) General construction characteristics and classification of road construction
2) Construction site clearance and excavation of topsoil and earth moving equipment selection
3) Excavation-filling work planning and determination of suitable materials for the fill
4) Preparation fill formation of ground and fillings. Compaction works and control of compaction
5) Properties and types of superstructure
6) Pavement layers and functions, Pavement layer thickness determination, Installation and compression methods
7) Bituminous binders, types, characteristics, and the overall design of experiments
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Lead to water damage caused by the lower and upper structure and the overall road drainage systems
10) The road surface and groundwater extraction methods
11) Structures and types of structures
12) Criteria selected in structures and construction methods
13) Road pavement defects and that the reasons for the formation of these defects
14) The basic principles for repairs of roads disorders
15) To make presentations covering all topics
16) Final examination
