Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Take the necessary safety measures in the workplace.
2) Explain the basic principles of the measurement.
3) Explain the basic operating principles of the measurement equipments.
4) Measure the resistance value with analog and digital measuring instruments, current, voltage.
5) Measure the voltage and period values with oscilloscope.
6) Use the signal generators.
7) Measure the length of materials with callipers and measure the diameter of materials with micrometers.

Work safety. Workshop safety. Use of electricity. Fire. First aid. Fundamentals of measurement and measurement devices. Units . Standards. Measurement. Calibration. Types of errors. Errors of measurement and equipment characteristic. Direct current measurements. Alternative current measurements. RMS and average value measurements. Maximum value measurements. Circuit elements and measuring their parameters. Oscilloscope with measurements. Oscilloscope; structure. Functions. Introduction to screen and control panel. Direct current and alternative current period and frequency measurements. Signal generators and the useing.Use calipers and micrometers

Weekly Schedule

1) Safety, workshop and factory plant security, electricity use
2) Fire, first aid services.
3) Principles of measurement and equipment, units, standards, measurement, calibration.
4) Error group, measurement errors and switching characteristics.
5) Statistical analysis of measurement error measurement ınstruments symbols
6) DC measurements; galvonometer of working principle with rotating spool.
7) Using galvonometer as ammeter and Voltmeter. Shunt resistance and pre-resistance calculations
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
