Amaç KMYO Kontrol ve Otomasyon Teknolojisi’ nin amacı; sanayi ve ticari iş alanlarında kullanılan elektrik, elektronik, mekanik, hidrolik-pnömatik, veya bilgisayar kontrolü tüm araç, gereç, donanım sistemlerinin ve teknolojik yapılarının tanıtımı, dizaynı, kurulumu, kullanımı, bakımı, tamiri ve geliştirilmesi konularında, bilgi ve beceriye sahip teknik elemanlar yetiştirmektedir. The aim of KMYO Control and Automation Technology is to train technical staff who has adequate knowledge and skills about electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic or a computer control of all equipment, tools, hardware, systems and technological structures, promotion, design, installation, operation, maintenance, repair and development issues which are used in industrial and commercial business.

Kabul Koşulları Yükseköğretim Kurulu tarafından belirlenen yönetmelikler çerçevesinde programa öğrenci kabulü merkezi sınav ile yapılmaktadır. Öğrenciler, öğrenim görmek istedikleri program tercihlerini bildirdikten sonra sınavdan aldıkları puana göre Öğrenci Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi tarafından ilgili programlara yerleştirilmektedir. Mesleki eğitim veren kurumlardan mezun olan öğrenciler, mezun oldukları alanda olmaları koşuluyla sınavsız olarak ilgili ön lisans programlarına kayıt yaptırabilirler. Uluslararası öğrenciler, Yükseköğretim Kurulu tarafından belirlenen kurallar çerçevesinde uluslararası geçerliliği olan sınavlarla kabul edilmektedir. Değişim öğrencilerinin programa kabulü ikili anlaşmalar çerçevesinde yapılmaktadır. Students are accepted to this program throught the university exam according to the framework of regulations set by The Council of Higher Education. Students who wish to enrol in the program have declared their preference according to composite scores obtained from a centralized exam and placed The Program by the SSPC (ÖSYM). Studens who gradute from vocational school from the relevant program are allowed to register to the relevant program without matriculation. Foreign students can register to The Program by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK). They have to take internationally recognized examinations. Exchange students acceptance to The Program are made within the framework of bilateral agreements. The acceptance of international exchange students is made thourogh The International Relations Unit, the acceptance of national exchange students is made thourogh The Farabi Exchange Unit and the acceptance of international students is made thourogh The Department of Student Afairs.
Dereceyi Alabilme Koşulları, Kuralları Öğrencinin bu programdan ön lisans derecesini alabilmesi için; a) Toplam 120 AKTS iş yükünü sağlaması, b) 30 gün staj yapması, c) Programdaki tüm dersleri başarmış olması, d) Genel not ortalamasının en az 2,00 olması gerekmektedir. In order to get an associate’s degree from the program, a student is required to: a)be successful in compulsory courses listed in the eight-term schedule together with the selective courses and fulfill 120 ECTS in total, b) successfully complete 30 days of internship c) have minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Automation is a program that has been gaining the general increasing importance among the areas, such as from our daily life to industry. This program explains and teaches the basic principles and application areas of Control and automation.
Genel Bilgi Çağdaş teknolojinin oluşmasında en önemli rolü oynayan sektörlerden birisi kontrol ve otomasyon alanıdır. Bu alan, sayısal sistemler, bilgisayar, elektronik, enstruman, hidrolik ve pnömatik sistemler ve otomasyonu kapsamaktadır. Bu programda, otomasyon sistemlerinin üretimi, kurulması ve işletilmesinde çalışacak öğrencilere, üretim elemanı ile mühendis arasında teknikerlik düzeyinde eğitim vererek, sektöre vasıflı iş gücü sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır. 1981 yılında öğrenci alımına başlayan Elektronik ve Otomasyon Bölümü, Kontrol ve Otomasyon Teknolojisi Programı, Kocaeli Meslek Yüksekokulu’nun 1988 yılında Yükseköğretim Kurulu ve Dünya Bankası II. Endüstriyel Eğitim Projesi kapsamına alınması ile yönetici ve öğretim elemanı yetiştirme programları yanında atölye ve laboratuvarların çağdaş imkanlar ile donanımı konusunda proje tarafından sağlanan avantajlardan yararlanmıştır. Considering the all sectors to form the contemporary technology, one of the most important roles is played by control and automation area. It comprises digital systems, computer, electronic, instrument, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and the automation. In this program, for the aim of bringing in the sector skilled labor, the education has been giving to the students those are about to work between the engineers and manufacture personnel, in a technician level, about the production, installation and operation of automation systems. Control and automation program has started to admit students since 1981. Control and Automation Technology Program in Kocaeli Vocational School has joined with the Industrial Training Project by the permission of the Board of Higher education and the World Bank II in 1988. Thus, it has been taken the advantages and benefited opportunities with the project, like managers and teaching staff training programs, workshop and laboratories have been redesigned with the contemporary equipment.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Kontrol ve Otomasyon Teknolojisi programından mezun olan öğrenciler kazandıkları yeterlikler doğrultusunda; elektronik, makine, ulaşım, otomotiv, gıda, petrol, ilaç, demir çelik sektöründe mal/hizmet üreten sanayi kuruluşlarında, küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmeler ve kamu kurumlarında “Tekniker” olarak istihdam edilirler. Students who have graduated from Control and Automation Technology Program, in accordance with their acquired qualifications, can be employed as “ a Technician” in electronics, machinery, transportation, automotive, food processing, oil, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel industry, in producing goods/services in industrial enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses and public institutions. In addition, they can work independently.

The students who get the required score from Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS), which is carried out by OSYM, are eligible to have a Bachelor’s Degree education and can make their own preference in these majors:Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Software and Control Systems), Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Aircraft, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic Education, Electronics and Computer Education.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
