Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Approaches the patients as a whole from the psycho-social aspect.
2) Prepares the patient for surgery by examining the general health status medically and psychologically.
3) Applies the appropriate anesthesia method to the patient.
4) Answers the questions of the patients and their relatives about anesthesia.
5) It works in coordination with the surgeon.
6) Make the necessary preparations for the patient as tools and medicines before the operation; It also keeps the necessary materials ready in unforeseen emergencies.
7) Recognizes the extraordinary situations that occur during the operation and helps the doctor in his treatment.
8) Under the control of the anesthesiologist, it ensures that the patient sleeps during the operation and that the procedure is painless.
9) Monitors the patient's vital functions until the end of the operation and intervenes within the limits of life-threatening or non-life-threatening changes when necessary.
10) It monitors the patient under anesthesia closely and protects it from mechanical or chemical effects from the environment.
11) Applies the patient's fluid, blood and blood products throughout the surgery.
12) At the end of the operation, it ensures the preservation of the vital signs of the patient and wakes him up painlessly.
13) After the operation, the patient is followed up until she is able to continue her life functions and relieves the patient's complaints.

Course Contents

Pre-anesthesia preparation, premedication and administered drugs, providing invasive monitoring, mechanical ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, upper airway anatomy and preoperative airway evaluation, intubation difficulties and complications, local anesthetic agents and complications, anesthesia systems, maintenance and sterilization of devices, oxygen delivery routes and preoxygenation, patient positions and complications, awakening from anesthesia and problems, complications during and after anesthesia, patient monitoring, shock types and treatment methods, preparation of intravenous drugs and adjustment of devices
