Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Program Competencies

• Professionally evaluates and applies the knowledge gained through the theoretical and applied courses which are at the base level aided with visual and practical resources, and application tools and lecture notes and boks including the applications in the field of anaesthesia.
• Wears work clothes, prepares sterile working conditions, and organizes work within the framework of job descriptions.
• In accordance with the referral from the relevant specialist physician, prepares for anesthesia application.
• Interrogates the patient before anesthesia application, informs the relevant physician if there is a problem, and prepares materials and medications under the guidance of the physician.
• Ensures the installation of necessary equipment for anesthesia applications and programs the calibration follow-up and recording with the Biomedical team, create and implement procedures, direct the team that works with.
• Defines the device and equipment support procedure in specific or unexpected situations and organizes the start of preparations.
• Aware of the necessity that the vital functions of the patient must be monitored and the related anaesthesia forms must be completed, and record them regularly.
• Notices and Identifies the unusual situation, problems and complications that may occur in the patient during follow-up and communicates to the anesthesiologist.
• Carries out the responsibilities under anesthesia technician in intensive care units
• Apply emergency procedures and provide basic life support.
• Increases competence by participating in trainings related to the introduction and use of new technological products developed for anesthesia applications and patient follow-up.
• Contributes, learns and applies professional competence during the formation of new procedures required by legislation or institutional executive board decision.
• As an individual performing anaesthesia, acts in accordance with the laws, regulations and legislation regarding duties, rights and responsibilities, and complies with ethical values with the awareness of the responsibility of team work.
• Establishes good communication in the workplace.
• Conducts activities related to professional development.
• Shows sensitivity towards society and the environment.
