Course Contents

The concept of politics, the political science, state in terms of political science, political sovereign, political parties are among the topics of this course.

Weekly Schedule

1) Meeting and general information about lesson
2) Politics, concepts, theories and paradigms. Governments, political systems and regimes.
3) Political ideologies: liberalism, conservatism, socialism. Other ideological traditions: fascism, anarchism, feminism, environmentalism, fundamentalism.
4) Democracy and democratic models
5) The concept of state and government theories. Nations and nationalism.
6) Global politics, idealism, realism, pluralism, the Cold War and the New World Order.
7) Regionalization, integration, European Union and other co-operation models.
8) Mid-term examination
9) Elections, electoral systems, political parties and propaganda.
10) Interest groups, local and global groups, bureaucracy, elites and the public.
11) Freedom and equality
12) Political groups and political conflicts in the world
13) Political groups and political conflicts in Turkey
14) Discussion: What are Ethnic rights and freedoms? What aren't Ethnic rights and freedoms?
