Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) 1) Has basic information on sensory equipments used in underwater vehicles, such as sonars, pressure sensors, hydrophones, electronic compasses, cameras
2) Has basic information on electronic equipments used in underwater vehicles suc as controller cards, thruster motors and driver circuits.
3) Can define and interpret fundamental equations on underwater vehicles.
4) Can comment hydrodynamic effects, pressure effects and leak proofing.
5) Can develop interface softwares which is required for such as depth and heading control applications and for setting communication between vehicle processor and computer.

Course Contents

Underwater vehicles, sensory systems, modeling of underwater robots, 6-DOF dynamic control of autonomous underwater vehicles, vehicle kinematics, vehicle dynamics, hydrodynamic effects, pressure sensors, electronic compasses, sonars, control board design, PWM driver interface for propeller control.
