Course Contents

Definition and procedures of mechanical surface treatments, definition of the surface properties of materials, abrasive sand blasting, grit blasting, shot peening, laser peening and stress peening, knowledge about mechanical surface treatments devices and applications, characterization of the surface properties of materials, variation of surface properties due to Mechanical Surface Treatments, variation of Surface properties due to thermal and cyclic loadings, variation of the surface hardness and roughness due to mechanical surface treatments, the effects of mechanical surface treatments on the wear and corrosion behavior of materials, specific surface treatments methods, laboratory studies of abrasive sand blasting and shot peening applications.
