Amaç 1-Makine Mühendisliği bölümü yüksek lisans programı, öğrenciye sunduğu ileri düzeyli ve özel alanlara odaklanmış derslerinin katkılarıyla, bilimsel araştırmaya yönelik problemi tanımlama, bilgiye ulaşma, konuya odaklanma ve bu hususta gereken araştırma metot ve yöntemlerini öğretmektir. 2-Ulusal ve uluslararası mühendislik alanlarında karşılaşılan mühendislik vakalarına bilimsel bir yaklaşımla ilgilenebilme ve çözüm prosedürlerini ortaya koyabilme kabiliyetini kazandırmak 3-Programın sonunda bilimsel nitelikte bir konuda araştırma yaptırarak öğrencinin araştırma, saptama, yönetme, değerlendirme ve karar verme yeteneklerini gelişmesini sağlamaktır. 1)The aim of master of sciences’ programme of Mechanical Engineering is to teach students tools of scientific research with the contribution of the specialized advanced level lectures. 2)To increase ability of the students in connection of engineering cases faced in real world and make progress self management of students in determination of remedies and solution procedures with scientific attitude in national and international arenas. 3)Make progress on scientific attitude in management, detection, evaluation and decision abilities of the students with a prepared dissertation performed on mechanical engineering cases.

Kabul Koşulları Yüksek lisans programına başvurabilmek için; ALES sınavında başvurduğu programın puan türünde en az 55 standart puan veya GRE ya da GMAT sınavlarından eşdeğer bir puan almış olmak gerekir. Adayların, İngilizce/Fransızca/Almanca dillerinden herhangi birinden, ÜDS veya KPDS’den en az 50 puan ya da YÖK’ün belirlediği sınavlardan eşdeğer puan almaları gerekir. So as to be admitted to the program, candidates are required to hold a bachelor’s degree from relevant faculties. The bachelor’s degrees granted from universities other than Turkey shall be approved by the Council of Higher Education. Applicants must get a minimum score of 55 from the related test parts of ALES (Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) or equivalent grade from GMAT or GRE exams, and a minimum score of 50 from UDS or KPDS (Governmental Foreign Language Proficiency Test ) or an equivalent grade from TOEFL, IELTS, CEFLE, ZDF for English, French or German languages. Those who meet the requirements above are eligible to take the official interview conducted by an academic jury.

Candidates holding BSc degree in Basic Sciences or Engineering implement field specific, innovative technologies using the latest design and analysis methods while enriching their knowledge in their field of expertise thanks to the courses offered by the program. These programs in a variety of departments cover various courses offered with an interdisciplinary approach in accordance with the field of interests. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to conduct applied research activities thanks to the updated laboratories equipped with high standard infrastructures.
Genel Bilgi Kocaeli Üniversitesi, 1976 yılında Makine ve Elektrik Mühendisliği bölümleri olarak 1976 yılında eğitime başladı. Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü 2012 yılı Ekim ayı itibariyle 11 Profesör, 4 Doçent, 9 Yardımcı Doçent ve 13 Araştırma Görevlisi olmak üzere toplam 73 kişilik kadrosu ve 1400 öğrencisi ile eğitime devam etmektedir. Bölümümüzde Makine ve İmalat, Konstrüksiyon, Termodinamik ve Isı Teknolojisi, Makine Teorisi-Sistem Dinamiği ve Kontrol, Otomotive ile Mekanik Ana Bilim Dalı olmak üzere toplam 7 Ana Bilim Dalı mevcuttur. Kocaeli University was founded in 1976. At the beginning, the program offered education in only Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Departments. The academic staff of Mechanical Engineering Department comprises of 11 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 9 Assistant Professors and 13 Research Assistants. The departments within the programme are Machinery and Manufacturing, Construction, Thermodynamics and Heat Technologies, Machine Theory-System Dynamics and Control, Automotive, and Mechanics.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Kamuda ve özel sektörde AR-GE, İmalat, Bakım gibi mühendislik birimlerinde ve uzmanlık, müfettişlik gibi idari birimlerde istihdam olanakları mevcuttur. Upon a successful completion of the program, graduates can continue their academic studies at Ph. D programs in the related fields of study on condition that they get the required score from related test parts of ALES (Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) and providing that they certify their foreign language proficiency through central or internationally valid examinations such as TOEFL,YDS,etc.

So as to be awarded a degree, students must successfully complete the courses offered by the program, one seminar and reach 120 ECTS credits in total and successfully complete a scientifically valid master’s thesis approved by an academic jury.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation and assessment is carried out basing on “Kocaeli University, General Examination Regulations for Graduate Degrees”. Depending on the nature of the course, various instruments such as; mid-term exams, final exams, projects, assignments, presentations, short exams are involved in the assessment process.
