Course Contents

A general approach and an architectural review of the project management of architectural projects prepared in architectural offices and the project and construction management in construction companies will be performed. Hypothetical perspectives of the management discipline will be assessed and main principles of project management will be expressed. Project management in architecture will be evaluated considering especially the architectural offices and the construction companies. Following that, project management in architectural offices and construction companies will be assessed and site management approaches will be explained. Methods, compared according to management logic and perspectives, will be strengthened with case studies and workshops. Managing the productivity of the resources, determining and managing the budget, reaching the aimed level of quality in the process of preparation of the architectural projects to the construction of the building and the planning software options that can be used will be explained with examples and case studies.

2) What is project? The description of project and construction management and its relationship with certain concepts: Organization, coordination, application, planning, control, strategy. What is organizational and strategical management?
3) Building construction process and its elements, participants and functions.
4) Basic principles of project management (part II), principles of project management in technical level.
5) Basic principles of project management (part II), principles of project management in technical level.
6) Explanation of architectural project production phases and description of construction industry (seminar).
7) Project management in design phase in architectural offices and construction companies. Problems and solution suggestions for project management in design phase in architectural offices and construction companies.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Phases of construction projects (pre-design, design, tender, construction, closing, maintenance). The process of design in architectural offices and construction companies.
10) Description and explanation of project delivery systems in architecture (research).
11) Bidding and contract phase (tender)

14) Basics and importance of time and cost management in project and construction management.
