Course Contents

Basic knowledges about solar radiation, Information on solar paths. Definition of meteorological datas. Information on calculation of solar radiation. Glare effect of solar beams. Information on solar control systems. Evaluation of solar control glasses in the context of visual comfort. Handling direct radiation in design of skylights and windows. Handling solar radiation in design of courtyards.

2) Introduction to solar architecture, Usage of solar radiation passively.
3) Definition of advantageous and disadvantageous effects of sun in building and space scale.
4) Settlement and micro-climate, topography, orientation, form
5) Zoning, building facade, insulation, wind protection, greenhouses, double facades
6) Solar technology, solar systems for heating, photo-voltaic panels
7) Basic information on solar beam effects, Solar angles
8) Midterm examination/Assessment

10) Physical and physological effects of sunlight. Compensation of sun light and artificial lighting. Basic concepts in natural lighting
