Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Gain knowledge about the definition of Sustainable and Green Buildings.
2) Recognize and compare international green building certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM, GreenStar, SBTool and CASBEEE.
3) Recognize the principles needed in the Project documents preparation phase of green building construction.
4) Gain basic knowledge about integrated design and project management in green building production.
5) Develop solutions for energy and water efficiency, sustainable materials and site use, indoor environmental quality and occupant health in green building construction.
6) Gains basic knowledge about the management of green building certification process.

Course Contents

This course will provide extensive information about sustainability, sustainable building production, definition of sustainable/ecological/green buildings, green building production, project management, principles, international green building certification approaches, LEED, BREEAM, CASBEE, SBTool, Greenstar certification systems, comparison of green building certification systems, green building certification process, project management in green building production, integrated design in green building production, energy and water efficiency in buildings, material and resource management in green building production, material selection for green buildings, sustainable site use, increasing indoor environmental quality, user health, disposal and recycling management, management of green building certification process, characteristics ofproject team for green building production.
