Course Contents

Introduction to biomaterials, history, development. Classification and structure of medical supplies. Biometals, bioceramics, biopolymers, biocomposites. Bioinertness, bioactivity, biodegradability concepts. Biocompatibility and immune system. Soft and hard tissues. Interactions of surface properties of materials and textures. Bioaterials testing and laboratory applications. Mechanical and corrosion behavior of implant materials. Biomaterials orthopedics, cardiology, dentistry, reconstructive and other surgical applications. Bio-electrolytes, bio-adhesives, bio-nano materials.Biomaterials development and use of rules of ethics.
