Course Contents

In pursuit of an introduction to the history and research areas of physics education in Turkey and in the world, basic themes in physics education research is discussed weekly. These themes are: History of Physics Education and Physics Education Studies; Misconceptions in Physics and Diagnosing Misconceptions; Mental Models and Diagnosis of Mental Models of Students’ in Physics Topics; Context-Based Physics Teaching; Problem-Based Physics Teaching; Inquiry-Based Physics Teaching and Laboratory Applications; Peer Instruction in Physics; Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) and Applications in Physics Education; Physics Teacher Proficiencies; History and Nature of Science in Physics Education; Technology-Based Physics Education (Microcomputer Based Learning Applications); Conceptual Change Methods in Physics Teaching; Physics Education for Gifted Students; Affective Variables in Physics Education; Development of Primary and Secondary School Curricula and Physics Teaching in Turkey.
