ART HİSTORY

Course Contents

This course covers contemporary art and design, space, and especially visual culture related to urban space, with readings on design thinking and culture, with critical, theoretical and historical perspectives. The cultural experience of modernity has been intertwined with the visual and physical experience of space since the 19th century; The city has become the place of economic and social mobilizations, conflictual public and private spaces that affect class, race and gender differences. This course examines the urban world, which interacts complexly with modernization and globalization, through the heterogeneous space of contemporary art and design, with cultural, geographical and international perspectives. Presents the imagination and conceptualization of space with examples from different fields of creative production, examines the new perspectives offered by artistic production. Referring to the institutions of the contemporary art and design world such as exhibitions, museums and biennials; It aims to expand the understanding of the transdisciplinary nature of discourses about space, visual culture and design, as well as the knowledge of contemporary art.
