Course Contents

Addressing the historical process of public art and questioning the new perception and transformation of art in the workplace.

Weekly Schedule

1) Discussion over public space and its definition.
2) The positions of galleries and museums as artistic institutions in contemporary art
3) Disclosure of the work in public space and discussion of examples through artworks
4) Artistic processes after Dada and Marcel Duchamp
5) Performance, Happening, Land Art, Body Art, Feminist Art, Earth Art, Arte Povera, Action, the relations of the sculpture / art object with its environment and society
6) Biennials as international events using the city and public space
7) Biennials as international events using the city and public space
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Artists such as Esra Erersen, Gülsün Karamustafa, Cevdet Erek, ODA PROJECT (artist collective consisting of Özge Açıkkol, Güneş Savaş and Seçil Yersel), and discussions One-on-one meetings with students;
10) Student work on work production using a selected public space
11) Discussion on ideas generated and suggestions for them
