1) He/she will be able to define the Quran’s i’caz and icaz.
2) He/She will be able to examine and evaluate the elements which constitute the i’caz .
3) He/She will be able to detect differences between works about this particular subject.
4) He/She will be able to examine the Quran in a literary sense and criticize its style and icaz.
5) He/She will be able to analyze the relationship between the Quran and various Arabic Language Rhetoric and other sciences.
6) He/She will be able to combine the elements of the Quran’s icaz and achieve generalizations.

Course Contents

Giving information about the İ’caz and icaz of the Quran and examining it in a literary sense and giving detailed information about the contributions of the other various sciences to explanation of the Quran and proving the Quran’s uniqueness.

1) The History of the Quran’s İ’caz: a) Classical works and the phases the İ’caz has been through b) Modern works
2) Some Technical Terms about Belagat (Rhetoric) and Fesahat (Eloquence) 1. Belağat 2. Fesahat 3. The situations which ruin the Fesahat
3) Some Technical Terms about Word (discourse) and Style 1. el-İcâz a. el – Hazf b. el- Kasr 2. Takdîm-Te'hîr
4) Cinâs and Sec'i in the Arabic Literature The compatibility of the sounds at the end of the ayats.
5) Reading and interpreting the work of M. Sadık er-Rafi’î called “el-Kur'ân”.
6) The Miracle in The Shape of Word (discourse): The literary qualities of the Quran 1. It is quite different from the well-known literature genres. 2. The word indicates the meaning 3. The balance of the discourse and meaning in The Quran 4. Talking to people from different levels at the same time 5. It has repetitions.
7) The time when The Quran challenged people ( Tehaddi) and those who attempted to fight back.
