Course Contents

Basic principles of light and electromagnetic waves, electromagnetic spectrum, geometric optics, optical media, laws of reflection and refraction, absorption, transmittance, dispersion, optical elements, types and functions of optical elements, beam transitions through surfaces, optical material selection, introduction to optical design software Zemax and its applications, preliminary design of a simple optical system.
