Course Contents

Introduction to rubber technology, Virgin rubber characterization, Compound characterization, Vulcanizate characterization

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction to Rubber Technology
2) Virgin rubber characterization (Viscosity, Plasticity retention index, Ash, Humidity analysis), Filler and process oil characterization
3) Rubber compounding by using internal mixer and two roll mill
4) Rheometer curve evaluation
5) Laboratory practice
6) Density measurement, Vulcanization by using hot press
7) Dispersion control and mechanical testing (Dispergrader, Hardness, abrasion and compression set measurements)
8) Midterm exam
9) Mechanical testing (Tensile test, Tear test)
10) Laboratory practice
11) Aging tests for rubber(Thermal, volumetric and ozone aging)
12) Dynamic-mechanical analysis (RPA, Rebound resillience, Flexometer)
13) Dynamic-mechanical analysis (DMA)
14) Reverse Engineering
