Far-right parties of Europe which were once on the fringes of politics have achieved significant success in recent elections. Presenting themselves as the defenders of `the real European values` against the intrusion of non-Europeans, especially Muslim migrants, the far-right parties politicized the refugee crisis for their political interests. As far-right rises the populist leaders of the governing parties intensified their anti-migrant rhetoric. The main focus of this course will be 1. Anti-migrant rhetoric in European far-right 2. The relation between migration and populism in the case of the US 3. The manifestation of xenophobia in mass communication
