| Amaç | Göç çalışmaları alanında lisansüstü eğitim veren kurumların hem ülkemizde hem de dünyada oldukça sınırlı sayıda olması bu alandaki eksikliği ve dolayısıyla ihtiyacı işaret etmektedir. Ekonomik göçmenlerin uyum sorunu ve buna ilişkin geliştirilecek politikalar ile yerinden olan kimselerin temel hakları ve bu kimselerin uluslararası düzlemde korunması halen üzerinde çokça çalışılmaya muhtaç göç düzlemindeki alanlardan sadece birkaçıdır. Diğer taraftan Göç Çalışmaları Doktora Programı’nın ülkemizin en yüksek seviyede göç alan illerinden biri olan Kocaeli’nde açılmasını da ayrıca önemsiyor ve genelde ilimizi özelde de Kocaeli Üniversitemizi bu alanda bir bilimsel odak merkezi haline getirmeyi hedefliyoruz. | Amaç (İngilizce) | The fact that the number of institutions providing postgraduate education in the field of migration studies is very limited both in our country and in the world indicates the deficiency and hence the need in this field. The problem of adaptation of economic migrants and the policies to be developed and the fundamental rights of displaced persons and the international protection of these displaced persons are only a few of the areas on the migration level that need to be studied. We highly value PhD Program on Migration Studies in Kocaeli, one of the provinces receiving the highest level of migration in Turkey, and aim to make our province, in particular Kocaeli University, a scientific focal point in this field. |
| Misyon | Üniversitemiz bünyesinde göç çalışmaları üzerine akademik faaliyette bulunan akademisyen sayısı azımsanmayacak kadar fazladır. Bu kapsamda göç olgusunun etkilerini politik, sosyolojik, çevresel, kültürel ve diğer alanlarda hali hazırda araştırmaya devam eden akademik kadromuz, Göç Çalışmaları Doktora Programı'nın kaynağını oluşturmakta; ve Programın düzenli bir şekilde yürütülebilmesini sağlayacak kapasiteye sahip olmaktadır. Bu Programın başlaması ile birlikte, doktora aşamasında göçün sosyolojik, toplumsal, siyasi, kültürel, toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı, psikolojik, çalışma ilişkilerine odaklı ya da diğer alanlarında bilimsel araştırma yapmak isteyen ve gerekli kriterleri sağlayan adayları Program için ehil olabilecektir. Bu sayede Göç Araştırmaları Doktora Programı bu alanda bilimsel bilgi üretimine katkı sunacaktır. | Misyon (İngilizce) | There are considerable academicians that work on migration studies in our University. The academic staff who already study the effects of migration in terms of political, sociological, environmental, cultural and other fields are the source of Migration Studies Doctorate Program within this scope and they have the capacity to function the Program properly. As the Program starts, candidates who wish to make scientific study on the sociological, social, political, cultural, gender based, physiological, industrial relations oriented or other fields of migration on doctorate level and providing the necessary conditions would be eligible for the Program. | Vizyon | Bölümümüz bünyesinde Uluslararası İlişkiler Doktora Programı bulunmaktadır. Göç Çalışmaları Doktora Programı açıldığında her iki programa başvuran ve kayıt olan öğrencilerin karşılıklı olarak bu doktora programlarından ders alabilmeleri sağlanacaktır. Böylelikle öğrenci asli olarak kayıt olduğu doktora programında uzmanlaşmanın yanı sıra farklı derslerde de eğitim görerek eleştirel bir bakış açısı kazanacak, günümüzün hızla gelişen ve değişen dünyasında alışılmışın dışında araştırma konularına da yönlenebilecek, sorgulayan ve araştıran yüksek eğitimli bir birey olarak topluma en üst düzeyde fayda sağlayacaktır. Diğer taraftan farklı uzmanlık alanlarındaki öğretim üyeleri havuzundan beslenen bu iki doktora programı yayın çalışmalarında araştırma sorularının çeşitlenmesini sağlayacaktır. Öğrenciye yapılacak katkıların yanı sıra yayın sayısının ve niteliğinin de artması en önemli amaç ve ortak çalışma noktalarından biridir. | Vizyon (İngilizce) | Our Department has International Relations Doctorate Program. Since the Migration Studies Doctorate Program starts to operate, it would be possible to take courses mutually for both Program's students. Therefore the student would be specialised in her major field alongside having the opportunity to have different courses from other major which would help to have a critical perspective and may direct her to select unique research subjects as a questioner and enquirer higher educated self in the rapidly changing and developing world. Moreover those two Doctorate Programs nourished by lecturers from different majors, would help diversification of research questions in publishing studies. To increase the quality and quantity of publications is one of the most important purpose and common study point of this Program. |
| Kabul Koşulları | Göç Çalışmaları Doktora Programına üniversitelerin Uluslararası İlişkiler, Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi, Sosyoloji ve Hukuk lisans programlarından mezun olanlar ile yine bu alanlarda yüksek lisans derecesine sahip olanlar başvurabilir. Lisans derecesinden farklı alanda yüksek lisans derecesi almış olan adayların başvuruları özellikle beklenmektedir. Programa başvuran adaylardan a) yabancı dil koşulu olarak Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı (YDS), Yüksek Öğretim Kurumları Yabancı Dil Sınavı (YÖKDİL) ve/ veya eşdeğer sınavlardan (TOEFL ve/veya IELTS) en az 55 puan b) Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı (ALES) sınavından en az 55 puan yeterliliklerini sağlamış olmaları beklenmektedir. Başvuru koşullarını sağlayan adaylar bir yazılı ve bir sözlü sınava katılmak zorundadır. | Dereceyi Alabilme Koşulları, Kuralları | Programın tamamlanması için ders aşamasında öğrencilerin güz ve bahar yarıyılında 5 kredilik 4 zorunlu ders, 4 kredilik 2 seçmeli ders ile her dönem 2 kredilik iki seminer olmak üzere dönem başı 30 kredilik dersi tamamlamaları gerekmektedir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin mezun olana kadar, danışmanları ile olası araştırma konularını ve doktora yapılan alana ilişkin güncel konuları tartıştıkları Uzmanlık Alan Dersini en azından iki dönem almaları ve başarı ile tamamlamaları gerekmektedir. Ders döneminin sonlanmasını takiben adaylar yeterlilik sınavını geçmeli, tez önerisi ve tez çalışmasını başarıyla tamamlamalıdır. Doktora Programı toplam kredi yükü 240 AKTS’dir. Ayrıca ‘Gelişim ve Öğrenme’ ve ‘Öğretimde Planlama ve Değerlendirme’ pedagojik formasyon dersleri ile ‘Bilimsel Araştırma Teknikleri ile Araştırma ve Yayın Etiği’ dersi de Kocaeli Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Yönetmeliği uyarınca, mezuniyet için alınması gereken dersler arasında sayılmaktadır. | Dereceyi Alabilme Koşulları, Kuralları (İngilizce) | During their coursework, students need to fulfill 30 ECTS in both spring and fall semesters; 4 mandatory courses (5 ECTS each), 2 elective courses (4 ECTS each), and a seminar (2 ECTS) each semester. Further, until their graduation, students need to take and pass Specialization Field Courses for at least 2 semesters, through which they will be discussing possible research topics and recent developments in their PhD field. After the finalization of their coursework, candidates need to pass the doctorate proficiency exam, submit a thesis proposal and complete their dissertation. Students need to fulfill a total of 240 ECTS to complete the PhD Program. | Genel Bilgi | İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski göç kavramı içinde bulunduğumuz 21. yüzyıla özellikle damgasını vurmaktadır. Ülkemiz ise bulunduğu jeopolitik konum dolayısıyla göç ajandasında ayrıca önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. 1960- 1970 döneminin iş gücü deposu Türkiye, yanı başındaki insani krizin etkisi ile önce Avrupa’ya ulaşma hayali kuran milyonlar için bir geçiş ülkesi iken zamanla göç alan bir ülke haline gelmiştir. Türkiye’nin coğrafi konumu nedeniyle en yoğun şekliyle hissettiği göç dalgaları dünyanın farklı yerlerinde çok başka yansımalara sebep olmuştur. Göç “meselesi” iç politikadan insan haklarına, uluslararası siyasetten ekonomiye çok geniş bir alanda akademik disiplinle araştırılmayı bekleyen soru işaretlerini barındırmaktadır. | Genel Bilgi (İngilizce) | Immigration, a concept as old as history of humanity, marked the 21st century. Turkey, on the other hand, has an important place in the migration agenda due to its geopolitical location. A labor reservoir during 1960- 1970 period, Turkey, transformed from being a transit country to Europe to a country of immigration with the impact of the humanitarian crisis. The waves of immigration which Turkey felt in an intense form as a result of its geographical position has led to many different places around the world further reflection. The “issue” of migration contains research questions need to be investigated in a wide range of fields from domestic politics to human rights, from international politics to economy. |

Recognition of Prior Learning
Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.
Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.
Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students must attend classes and examinations. The instructor announces the weekly course content, the course book and how students will be evaluated at the beginning of the semester. The instructor evaluates the students depending on their midterm and final grades, attendance to the class, their additional work such as projects, presentations and assignments which were presented at the beginning of the semester. The equivalences and coefficients of letter grades out of 100 points is as follows.
