Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Defines the concepts of analog and digital, explains the difference between them.
2) Defines number systems, transforms number systems to each other.
3) Defines digital coding and digital coding types.
4) Makes simplification with Boolean algebra by learning the principles of Boolean algebra.
5) Understands logic gates, uses logic gates together, makes simplification using Karnough Maps.
6) Understands the operation of combinational arithmetic circuits and and practice the combinational logic circuits..
7) Understands the operation of encoder, decoder, multiplexer and demultiplexer combinational logic circuits and practice the combinational logic circuits.
8) Knows Flip-Flop types, designs counters, understands the operation of shift registers.
9) Understands the operation of ADC and DAC.

Numerical concepts, number systems, logic circuits, simplification of logic expressions, Combinational Circuits, Flip-Flop 's, Counters, Registers and binders, Memory Unit, Algorithmic State Machines, Converters

1) Numerical concepts and number systems.
2) Conversion of number systems and arithmetics of number systems.
3) Coding and encoding types.
4) Boolean mathematics and simplification of logic functions.
5) Logic gates, Karnaugh maps and simplification of logic functions.
6) Logic circuit design and design examples.
7) Arithmetic circuits (adders, subtractor)
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Arithmetic circuits (multiplicator and comparator)
10) Combinational circuits (encoder, decoder)
11) Combinational circuits (multiplexer and demultiplexer)
