1) Having main methodological understanding of historical development labour that make main subject of historical development
2) Getting general information about the process of formation of the working class, emergence of the trade union movement and development on the general conditions of the trade unions.
3) Realizing the development of changes in the position of labor and labor movements in relation to the overall dynamics of social transformation and establishing cause and effect relationships to grasp.

Course Contents

In this course it will be addressed methodological issues of labor historiography, world history of labor will be examined general lines and the major turning points, and will be an overview of labor and labor movements in the Ottoman Empire.

Weekly Schedule

1) General information about place in the historical narrative in the history of labor, space, and the subjects
2) Being equipped with the general information about the process of formation of the working class, emergence of the trade union movement and development on the general conditions of the trade unions. the historical development of labor and working
3) General description labor relations of the pre-capitalist
4) The emergence of the working class and the bourgeoisie as the main classes of capitalism, the commodification of labor, modernization, and so on Introduction of the concepts.
5) Gaining knowledge on the life conditions of employees in Turkey from Ottomon Empireperiod up to Republic and comprehending the process in the emergence of working class in Turkey. As the turning point presentation of historical events industrial Revolution, the French Revolution.
6) The development of the working class, working and living conditions of the early stage of capitalism in Europe
7) Development of working-class movement, the emergence of trade unions in their struggles.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Revolutions, reforms, institutions and the progress of the struggle of the working parties
10) Evaluation of the historical dimension of labor rights and the struggle of organized labor characteristics, the results
11) An overview of the state of labor relations and labor of the Ottoman period.
