Kabul Koşulları Yüksek lisans programına başvurabilmek için; bir lisans diplomasına sahip olmak ve ALES sınavında başvurduğu programın puan türünde en az 55 standart puan veya GRE ya da GMAT sınavlarından eşdeğer bir puan almış olmak gerekir. For admission into a doctoral program with a master’s degree, applicants must have an ALES exam score not being less than 55 standard points or equivalent score in GRE general or GMAT. For admission into a doctoral program with a bachelor’s degree, applicants must have an ALES exam score relevant to the program applied, not being less than 70 standard points or an equivalent score in GRE or GMAT. The candidates should have at least 55 points from any of the English / French / German languages of UDS or KPDS (Governmental Foreign Language Proficiency Test)or an equivalent score from the exams recognized by The Council of Higher Education(CoHE) such as; IELTS or TOEFL . In order for a candidate to be successful the scientific grade level must be at least 70. Student admission is possible at the beginning of each fall and spring semesters basing on the quota specified by the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences.

In order to be awarded a degree from PhD programs, candidates are required to succeed in 7 courses, 2 seminars, a qualifying exam, thesis proposal and thesis study. The total workload to be accomplished for PhD programs is 240 ECTS.
Program Genel Profili Temel bilimler veya mühendislik alanlarında lisans ve/veya yüksek lisans derecesine sahip olan öğrenciler, doktora programlarında aldıkları dersler ile çalışma alanlarında derinlemesine bilgi sahibi olurken, bir problem üzerinde tez ve hipotez geliştirerek çözüme gidecek yöntemleri belirler ve uygular. Graduates of the program can proceed to their academic studies in domestic and foreign post-doctoral training programs of various universities on condition that they fulfill all the requirements. They can also be employed as academic staff at universities in relevant departments.
Mezuniyet Koşulları Yüksek lisans derecesi ile kabul edilen öğrenciler için bu program, toplam 240 AKTS’den oluşur. Doktora programında toplam AKTS; uzmanlık alan dersi hariç, en az yedi adet ders (56 AKTS), anabilim dalının ders programında bulunması koşuluyla iki seminer dersi, yeterlik sınavı, tez önerisi ve tez çalışmasından oluşur. Students applied to the program with a Bachelor's degree are required to be successful in at least fifteen courses (equals to workload of 116 ECTS) offered by the program excluding specialization field courses, and provided that there is scientific departments of two seminar courses in the curriculum, to pass the qualifying exam, to submit a thesis proposal and to defend the doctorate thesis and accomplish 300 ECTS in total. For students admitted with a master’s degree, it is required to be successful in at least 7 the courses offered by the program and reach 240 ECTS in total, pass the qualifying exam and successfully complete and defend a doctoral dissertation, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3,00 out of 4,00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

  • Examining the studies performed on his/her area, to occur the scientific problem and to propose methods for solve.     
  • Having sufficient theoretical knowledge to conduct a doctoral study on a subject related with his/her area.       
  • Performing literature study and to identify the scientific problem.           
  • Performing experimental or theoretical study on his/her area.      
  • • Having competency in reliability and estimation methods, fatigue life prediction of vehicle elements and the determination of the reasons that cause damage to vehicle elements and making design accordingly.
  • • Being able to measure safety performance of vehicles, recognizing the active and passive safety of . vehicles, performing design analysis systems subjected to impact in Ansys-LSDYNA environment
  • Producing solution by putting out the differences in internal combustion engine designs.
  • Examining the effects of diesel engine to mathematical model of the diesel engine fuel system and the fuel jet fragmentation, the formation of spray and combustion chamber shape.  
  • Examining, interpreting and developing mechanical systems and the dynamic movements of a vehicle.
  • Conducting electronic control system, sensor, and carrying out theoretical and practical application in the field of communication technology.
  • Making calculation of flows on surface of a vehicle.
  • Operating automotive technology and computer programs used in the analysis of the introduction of mechanisms.
  • Being able to carry out the development of analytical and modeling studies in the field of fuel cells.
  • Being able to implement and account fatigue and fracture mechanics and crack growth mechanisms
  • Having the basic knowledge about electronics and control systems in automotive technology
