Course Contents

This course covers;What is data?the classification of the data,histograms and Frequency distributions Basic Statistics Consepts,moments in statistics and correlation,solution of the non-lineer equations Probability,probability distributions,test statistics the types of data in geophysics,sampling theory correlation processes,rounding processes convolution and the importance of convolution in signal processing.

Weekly Schedule

1) Defination of the data. The meaning of data which is the group of information that represent the qualitative or quantitative attributes of a variable or set of variables. The importance of signal processing in engineering applications
2) Clasification of the data, Cont. Data, Disc. Data
3) Histograms and Frequency distributions, Raw data, A standard order – ascending, Reverse order- descending, Maximum value, Minimum value, Graphical display of tabulated frequencies, Smoothed distribution curves.
4) Basic statistics consepts, Median value, Standart deviation, Corelation coefficent.
5) Moments in statistics and correlation, Corelation in periodic data, Autocorrelation function, Corrrelation of non-periodic data, Corrrelation of random data, Correletaion and Cross-Correletaion of wavelet.
6) Solution of the non-lineer equations: The meaning of the act of repeating a process usually with the aim of approaching a desired goal or target or result, Basic Iteractive methods, Newton-Raphson Methods.
7) Probability, Discrete probability distribution, Continuous probability distribution, Probability distributions, Normal distribution, Poisson distribution, Binom distribution.
