Course Contents

The concept of ethics, root and meaning of the concept of ethics, the importance of ethics in human practice, Theory of ethics, consideration, consistency and usefulness principles, Code of ethics, universal principles, Principal worth of ethics, universal and top worth, golden rules, rights and freedom, Basic principles of the ethics, basic types of ethical principles, ethical models, Ethics as science of practice, ethics and the profession models, Description of the engineering ethics, honesty in engineering, engineering and work responsibility, Responsibility to the community, the social dimension of the engineering applications, Responsibility to the nature and environment, responsibility to the profession and colleagues, Responsibility to the employers and customers, personal responsibility, Geophysical Engineering profession and ethical principles, application characteristics for different types of exploration, working opportunities of the profession, employers, employees, lows and regulations in the public sector. different cases in engineering ethics. Information is given on quality assuarence and management, ergonomy, risk analysis and enviromental effects.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction, description of the content and lecture programme, resources, ethic and moral, necessitiy of engineering ethics
2) origin and meaning of ethic concept, improtance of ethics in human life, thoery of ethic, principal of opinion, principal of consistency, principal of utility
3) basic principals of ethic, basic types of ethical pricipal, ethic: as a science of practic, types of occupations and ethic
4) core ethichal worth, top worths, universal pricipals, golden rules, rights and freedom
5) description of the engineering ethics, honsty in engineering, engineering and work responsibility, responsibility of products, basis of engineering ethics
6) description of occupation and ethics of occupation, spesification of engineering applications, opprutunities in state and mercenary, customer-client relationship, laws and codes
7) Responsibility to the community, social dimensions of the engineering applications
8) midterm exam-evaluation
9) Responsibility to the nature and environment, responsibility to the profession and colleagues
10) rights in professional lfie and responsibilities, personal responsibility, responsibility ot the customer and contractor,
