Course Contents

Mimetics of television narratives, authoritative, part provides information about the structure formed based on the text again. Television program has different types of text are narrative features. These qualities are covered. The program according to different encoding formats species affects the content and structure of the narrative is providing this feature to be able to cater to different social segments. The narrative consists of television image and sound association, because it produces many narrative text is equipped with features such as feeding polysemy and intertextuality. These structures are examined through examples.

Weekly Schedule

1) The course aims, methods, evaluation forms and general information about the course.
2) History of narrative and forms of narratives (epic, dramatic).
3) General characteristics of dramatic narrative.
4) Language of television; explication of television as a fictional and dramatical instrument.
5) Explication of general characteristics of television narrative.
6) Explication of symbolic narrative elements and systems of meaning (scene, lighting, costume, color, etc) in television narrative.
7) Exploration of meaning systems in television narrative through sample TV programs.
8) Mid-term Examination.
9) Functions of voice and importance of use of voice in television narratives.
10) Explication of characters in television narratives.
11) Action, discrepancy, events, conflict, fiction and narrative strategies in television narratives belonging these concepts will be given.
12) Information about broadcast stream, which is the distinguishing character of a television narrative, will be given.
13) Information and examples about dramatical program genres will be given: TV Serials, Reality shows, Makeover Shows and Contests.
14) Examination of student studies on sample TV programs.
15) Examination of student studies on sample TV programs.
16) Final Examination.
