Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) 1) This course will enable one to: Describe characteristics of scientific approach. 2) Describe the differences between qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. 3) Evaluate the appropriateness of research and research proposals to ethical principles. 4) Define research problem. 5) Select appropriate research methodology and design. 6) Describe the importance of literature review. 7) Use library recourses and services. 8) Plan a literature review using the Internet. 9) Express the importance of writing the aim, importance, assumptions, limitations and definitions of a related research subject. 10) Identify the appropriate data collection instruments. 11) Develop solutions according to research findings. 12) Analyze solutions presented for a research subject. 13) Apply statistical tests on a particular research data and analyze the outcomes. 14) Develop suggestions according to research outcomes and write formal, scientific research reports. 15) Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a particular research report. List the rules of writing a research report.

Teaching basic knowledge about special issues in chemistry, and assessment of the issues from the perspective of chemistry.
