In order to be admitted to the program, there is no examination requirement for the graduates of Vocational and Technical High Schools such as; Lathe, Metal Work, Motor, Machine and Machine Technician. If a quota remains after the placement of such students, graduates of other types of high schools can also be admitted to the program on condition that they get the required score from math reasoning test parts of governmental test held by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Students can apply for lateral transfer within or out of Turkey in case a quota is provided for them. Lateral Transfer student admission is declared after the evaluation of the applicant’s academic standing. So as to get an associate degree, a students should have at least 2.00 cumulative grade point average out of 4.00, should complete a total of 120 ECTS(30 ECTS for each semester ) credits including theoretical and practical courses and complete a total of 30 working days internship.
Program Genel Profili Teknik problemleri kavrama, analiz etme ve çözmede kullanabilmeleri için matematik, fen ve mühendislik alanında temel teknik bilgi ve becerilere sahip teknik elemanların yetişmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu bilgi ve becerileri kullanarak endüstride veya çalışılan başka ortamlarda yeni fikirler veya ürünler geliştirmeleri ve geliştirdikleri yeni fikirleri uygulamaya dökmeleri için özgüveni gelişmiş bireylerin yetişmesi hedeflenmektedir. This program intends to train technical staff who has the ability to understand, analyze and solve problems via basic technical knowledge in the field of science and engineering. Thus it will be possible to implement new ideas in industry or other fields to produce new products by using knowledge and skills obtained from this education. In addition, there is also a summer internship in order to develop students' practical knowledge and skills.
Genel Bilgi Makine programının amacı; sırasıyla makine,imalat,üretim ve bakım-onarım alanlarında endüstrinin ihtiyaç duyduğu ara eleman ihtiyacını karşılamak; işletmelerde mühendis ile doğrudan üretim faaliyetinde bulunan işgören arasında gerekli koordinasyonu sağlayacak tekniker elemanlar yetiştirmektir. Hereke Meslek Yüksekokulu Makine ve Metal Teknolojileri Bölümüne bağlı olan "Makine Programı", bulunduğu konum olarak çok stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. Bölgemiz ülke sanayinin yaklaşık % 20 'den fazlasını bünyesinde barındırmakta olup; bölgeye her geçen gün kurulan çok sayıda yeni sanayi bölgesi, programa ve mezunlarına olan talebi hızla arttırmaktadır. Bu sebeple bölgede mevcut sanayinin ihtiyaçlarına göre makine teknikeri yetiştirmek programın ana amaçlarından birini oluşturmaktadır. The aim of the Machine program is to train intermediate staff required by the industry in the areas, such as; machine, manufacturing, and maintenance and repair and to educate technicians who are able to secure coordination directly between engineers and employers, who are in active in direct manufacturing in the plants. “Machine Program” that offers education within Hereke Vocational School , Department of Machine and Metal Technologies , has a substantial importance strategically. The region cover over %20 industries of Turkey. Many new industrial regions that have been established in the region increases the demand for the program and its graduates, as well. Thus, educating machine technicians according to the needs of the industries established in the region is the main purpose of the program. The students graduated from the machine program have no difficulty in employment.

Upon a successful completion of the associate degree, so as to get a bachelor’s degree, students can apply to programs such as; mechanical engineering, metalurgical and material engineering, naval architecture and marine engineering, manufacturing engineering, automotive engineering etc.on condition that they get the required score from Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by OSYM. (Student Selection and Placement Center).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
