Program Genel Profili Temel bilimler veya mühendislik alanlarında lisans derecesine sahip olan öğrenciler, yüksek lisans programlarında aldıkları dersler ile uzmanlaşacakları alanda bilgi dağarcıklarını zenginleştirirken, modern tasarım ve analiz yöntemleri ile alana özgü yenilikçi teknolojileri uygularlar. Bu programlarda öğrencilere, disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımla, ilgi alanlarına göre enstitünün çeşitli anabilim dallarında dersler sunulur. Candidates holding BSc degree in Basic Sciences or Engineering implement field specific, innovative technologies using the latest design and analysis methods while enriching their knowledge in their field of expertise thanks to the courses offered by the program. These programs in a variety of departments cover various courses offered with an interdisciplinary approach in accordance with the field of interests. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to conduct applied research activities thanks to the updated laboratories equipped with high standard infrastructures.
Genel Bilgi Elektrik Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı 1993 yılında Kocaeli Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü bünyesinde öğretime başlamıştır. Elektrik devrelerinin modellenmesi ve analizi, elektrik makinaları tasarımı, analizi ve denetimi, güç elektroniği uygulamaları, modern kontrol yöntemleri, güç sistemleri analizi, güç sistemlerinde optimizasyon ve koruma, enerji kalitesi ve yönetimi, yenilenebilir enerji kaynakları, akıllı şebekeler konularında öğretim verilmektedir. Ayrıca bu konulardaki tez çalışmaları, Tübitak, Santez ve BAP projeleri ile desteklenmektedir. Elektrik Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde 8 adet Ar-Ge Laboratuvarı bulunmaktadır. Öğrenciler ders ve tez aşamasında Ar-Ge Laboratuvarlarından faydalanabilmektedirler. MsC. Electrical Engineering Programme was started in the year of 1993 within the Institute of Natural Science. Education and research activities in this programme is on modeling and analysis of electric circuits, design, analysis and control of electric machines, modern control methods, power system analysis, optimization methods and protection for power systems, power quality management and smart grids. Besides, thesis work in these areas are supported by several organizations. There are 8 research labs which students can use for their course and thesis work. Student exchange is possible within the framework of bilateral agreements such as; Erasmus and Farabi.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Elektrik Mühendisliği Yüksek Lisans mezunları; (a) Elektrik Mühendisliği ile ilgili eğitim ve öğretim kuruluşlarında akademik eleman olarak, (b) Özel ve kamu kuruluşlarında; enerji üretimi, iletimi, dağıtımı, aydınlatma ve iç tesisat konularında projelendirme, uygulama ve kontrol elemanı olarak, (c) Elektrik Makinaları, Güç elektroniği, Kontrol ve Otomasyon, Ölçme konularında faaliyet gösteren kamu ve özel sektör firmalarında Elektrik Yüksek Mühendisi olarak, (d) Elektrik Mühendisliği ile ilgili ürünlerin satış ve pazarlamasında, (e) Elektrik enerjisinin planlanması, yönetimi ve verimliliği konularında, (f) Ayrıca Elektrik Mühendisliği konularında serbest olarak da çalışabilirler. Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Evaluation and assessment is carried out basing on “Kocaeli University, General Examination Regulations for Graduate Degrees”. Depending on the nature of the course, various instruments such as mid-term exams, final exams, projects, assignments, presentations, short exams are involved in the assessment process.
