The purpose of this program is to train counselors who comprehend the new paradigm of the profession in the 21st century, have adopted the humanistic and existential philosophy, are proficient and have earned ethical responsibilities in the profession, are capable in doing original research on the field using his/her scientific research skills, could work in the sectors of education, health, social services, industry, etc., and has the features of the self-actualized person.

Kabul Koşulları Adaylardan, yüksek lisans müracaatı için yabancı dil koşulu aranmaz. Adayların yüksek Lisans için ALES’ten en az 55 puana sahip olması gerekmektedir. Üniversitelerin Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışma (RPD), Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik (PDR), Eğitimde Psikolojik Hizmetler (EPH) programlarından birinden en az lisans mezunu olanlar başvurabilirler. Students should take from courses and seminar, 60 ECTS from thesis. Genel Bilgi Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık Yüksek Lisans Programı, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü içerisinde Eğitim Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı altında yer almaktadır. Programda alan bilgisi, araştırma bilgisinin yanı sıra uygulamaya ilişkin zorunlu ve seçmeli dersler verilmektedir. Dersler kuramsal ve uygulamalı olarak yürütülmektedir.Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık Yüksek Lisans Programı, rehberlik ve psikolojik danışma hizmetlerine gereksinim duyulan çeşitli alanlarda bu hizmetleri sunabilecek, kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgi ve beceriler ile donanmış uzman personel yetiştirmek ve alandaki bilimsel gelişmelere katkıda bulunacak akademisyen yetiştirmek için açılmıştır. The M.A.Programme of Guidance and Psychological Counseling located in the Faculty of Education is affiliated with the Department of Social Sciences. The required and elective hands on courses are offered to students as well as field knowledge and research methods. Courses are carried out theoretically and practically. The M.A.Programme of Guidance and Counseling was established in order to train professional staff equipped with theoretical and practical skills who will be able to serve in various fields where guidance and psychological councelling services are needed.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

  • Evaluates the contribution and benefit of professional ethical principles to the development of the field.
  • Designs and implements developmental and preventive PCG programs in educational institutions in accordance with the principles of developmental guidance.
  • Examines and evaluates current scientific publications related to the field of PCG with a critical attitude.
  • Conducts individual psychological counseling in accordance with PCG principles and techniques.
  • Conducts group counseling in accordance with the principles and techniques of PCG.
  • Designs and implements classroom guidance and psycho-educational programs in accordance with the principles and techniques of PCG.
  • Conducts scientific research using advanced statistical and research methods for scientific research.
  • Takes active responsibility individually and as a team member for the development of the field of counseling and guidance.
  • Designs and conducts researches that will produce solutions to current needs related to the field of PCG.
