Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

  • Türkiye ve dünyada ekonomik öneme sahip bahçe bitkileri temel alanı içerisinde yer alan bağ, meyve, sebze ve süs bitkilerine ait türlerin morfolojik, fizyolojik ve biyolojik özellikleri; ekolojik istekleri, yetiştiriciliği, ıslahı ve muhafazası konularındaki teorik ve uygulamalı bilgileri kullanır.
  • It identifies and analyzes the problems that may arise in the processes from production to marketing of vineyards, fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants in the basic field of horticulture, develops and implements solutions based on research and evidence.
  • In the field of horticulture; It designs modern garden facilities using new technologies in the production of vegetables, fruits, vineyard and ornamental plants grown in open areas and under cover, and demonstrates competence in laboratory and/or field technologies used in this field.
  • Being sufficiently equipped in the field of horticulture, they foresees and defines professional problems, measures their potential effects, analyzes options, determines applicable solutions and evaluates, compares and decides on the results of applications.
  • With the knowledge she has acquired in the field of horticulture, she designs research, sets up and conducts experiments, identifies problems, analyzes and interprets using multiple sources, including current and old literature, and uses them for the benefit of society.
  • They contributes to the awareness of the society by sharing the knowledge they have acquired in the field of horticulture with agricultural producers in region and organizations operating in the field of agriculture, and writes projects on a regional and national basis.
  • It selects the modern tools necessary for the analysis and solution of complex problems encountered in the field of horticulture and uses information technologies effectively in this field.
  • It evaluates how global problems such as climate change, energy use, water availability and/or food security affect the sustainability of horticultural systems locally, nationally and globally, and relates them to ecology and humans.
  • Writes effective reports in the field of Horticulture and understands written reports, prepares design and production reports, makes effective presentations, receives and implements clear and understandable instructions.
  • He/she carries out his/her profession within the framework of scientific, cultural and ethical values, in accordance with the standards used in engineering practices and in compliance with the relevant legislation.
  • In matters related to his profession, he uses professional terminology effectively and accurately by using at least one foreign language in addition to his native Turkish, and with his strong communication skills, he follows the developments in his field at the international level and improves himself in the professional field through collaborations on different platforms in this field.
  • By gaining sufficient knowledge and awareness about occupational health and safety and environmental health related to them profession, they raises awareness about the effects of horticulture on health, environment and safety at the social level.
