Amaç Rekreasyon yüksek lisans programı, Kocaeli Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Rekreasyon Anabilim Dalı bünyesinde eğitim vermektedir. The Recreation Master's Degree Programme provides education within the Recreation Department of the Social Sciences Institute of Kocaeli University. The aim of the recreation master's Degree is to adopt a lifelong learning approach to recreation, to renew and continuously improve their knowledge and to specialize in the field of recreation science. Another aim of this programme is to educate new academic staff who have sufficient academic infrastructure, research and problem-solving skills by interpreting the concepts and ideas learned in the field of recreation in national and international dimension, interdisciplinary analysis and application.

Kabul Koşulları Spor alanında örgün eğitim veren fakülte ve yüksek okullarından (Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksek Okulu, Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi, Spor Bilimleri ve Teknolojisi Yüksekokulu) sosyoloji, psikoloji, sağlık eğitimi veren herhangi bir 4 yıllık lisans programından lisans seviyesinde diploma sahibi olmak. Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM) tarafından merkezi olarak yapılan ALES’ten başvurduğu programın puan türünde en az 55 puan almak. Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’ne bağlı olan ilgili ana bilim dalı başkanlığınca yapılacak bilim sınavında başarılı olmak. Genel başarı notunun en az 60 olması gerekir. Başarı notu, ALES puanının %50'si, lisans başarı notunun %20'si ve yazılı sınav ve/veya mülakat notunun %30'unun toplanması ile elde edilir. Yazılı sınava ve/veya mülakata girmeyenlerin başarı notu hesaplanmaz. Eğer varsa ilan başvuru tarihlerindeki koşullar çerçevesinde öğrenci kabulü yapılmaktadır. To have a bachelor's degree from any 4-year undergraduate program in sociology, psychology, health education from faculties and universities providing formal education in the field of sports (School of Physical Education and Sports, Faculty of Sports Sciences, School of Sports Sciences and Technology). To get at least 55 points in the score type of the program applied from ALES, which is centrally conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). To be successful in the science exam to be held by the relevant department of the Institute of Social Sciences. The overall success grade must be at least 60. The success grade is obtained by adding 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate success grade and 30% of the written exam and/or interview grade. The success grade of those who do not take the written exam and/or interview is not calculated. If any, students are accepted within the framework of the conditions in the announcement application dates. In addition, there is no foreign language score requirement in the master's program with thesis in recreation.

Program Genel Profili Rekreasyon yüksek lisans programı lisans derecesini rekreasyon, beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği, spor yönetimi, antrenörlük, özel eğitim, psikoloji, sosyoloji veya sağlık alanından almış, akademik kariyer yapan/yapacak olan ya da çeşitli spor kuruluşlarında çalışan adaylara yöneliktir. Bu yüksek lisans programı Yaşam boyu egzersiz, Hareket Eğitimi, Rekreasyon pazarlaması, İnsan kaynakları yönetimi, Terapötik rekreasyon ve Eğitim Kurumlarında rekreasyon içeren disiplinler arası bir alandır. Yüksek lisans programının temel amacı organizasyonlarda rekabet gücü kazanabilmek için öğrencilere uzmanlaşmak istedikleri alana göre Eğitim, Sanayi, Turizm ve Terapötik rekreasyon alanlarında teorik ve uygulamalı konular hakkında gerekli bilgilerin sunulmasına dayanmaktadır. Bu program rekreasyon ile ilgili güncel konuları kapsamayı hedefleyen akademik ağırlıklı bir programdır. Program kapsamında verilen dersler, öğrencilere güçlü bir temel sağlayacak ve aynı zamanda uygulamaya yönelik bakış açılarını geliştirecek şekilde planlanmıştır. Program ders ve tez dönemlerini kapsamaktadır. Öğrenciler, tezlerini enstitüye sunduktan sonra jüri önünde çalışmalarını sözlü olarak savunmak durumundadır. The master's program in recreation is intended for candidates with a bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education and sports teaching, sports management, coaching, special education, psychology, sociology or health, who are or will be pursuing an academic career or working in various sports organizations. This master's program is an interdisciplinary field that includes Lifelong Exercise, Movement Education, Recreation Marketing, Human Resource Management, Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation in Educational Institutions. The main objective of the master's program is based on providing students with the necessary knowledge about theoretical and practical issues in the fields of Education, Industry, Tourism and Therapeutic recreation according to the field they want to specialize in in order to gain competitiveness in organizations. This program is an academic-based program that aims to cover current issues related to recreation. The courses offered within the program are planned to provide students with a strong foundation and at the same time develop their practical perspectives. The program includes course and thesis periods. After submitting their thesis to the institute, students have to defend their study orally in front of a jury. The master's program lasts for two years. In line with the program, students undergo a comprehensive education process in the field they want to specialize in through compulsory and elective courses.
Genel Bilgi Rekreasyon Tezli Yüksek Lisans programı, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında faaliyete başlamıştır. Rekreasyon Anabilim Dalı'nda 2'si Prof. Dr., 2'si Doç. Dr. ve 1'i Dr. Öğretim Üyesi unvanına sahip toplam 5 öğretim üyesi bulunmaktadır. Recreation Master's program with thesis started its activities in the 2023-2024 academic year. There are a total of 5 faculty members in the Department of Recreation, 2 of whom have the title of Prof. Dr., 2 of whom have the title of Assoc. Prof. Dr. and 1 of whom has the title of Dr. (Asst. Prof.) Faculty Member. Recreation Master's program with thesis accepts students in the fall and spring semesters with written and oral science exams and provides 2 years of education. Graduates who have successfully completed the master's program can apply to doctoral programs in their own fields or in multidisciplinary fields, provided that they get at least 55 points from ALES or exams accepted as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education within the last five years and get at least 55 points from YDS or exams accepted as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education except their native language within the last five years.
Mezuniyet Koşulları Üniversitemiz Lisansüstü Eğitim-Öğretim Yönetmeliğine göre; Rekreasyon yüksek lisans programı öğretim planında yer alan zorunlu ve seçmeli dersleri başarı ile tamamlayıp, bir akademik danışman yönetiminde alanda yüksek lisans tez çalışması yaparak bilim jürisi önünde savunmak ve başarılı kabul edilmek. According to the Graduate Education and Training Regulations of our university; To successfully complete the compulsory and elective courses in the recreation master's program curriculum, to successfully complete a master's thesis in the field under the direction of an academic advisor, to defend it in front of a scientific jury and to be accepted successful. Except for those who have a bachelor's degree in recreation, students admitted to graduate programs must successfully complete the scientific preparation courses.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Exams consist of midterm, final and make-up exams. In addition to midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor finds appropriate can be done. The number of these activities and their contribution to the course grade are specified by the instructor in the course plan. Exams can be written, oral, both written and oral or practical. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. The contribution of the final exam grade to the success grade cannot be less than 40% and more than 60%. The letter grade intervals are determined by the instructor of the course. In order to be successful in a course, the letter grade must be at least CC if attendance is maintained with a 70% attendance rate. Courses such as thesis, specialization course and seminar are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful.
