Vision of the department of Mechatronics Engineering, is follow and implement the changes at the time that technology is developing rapidly, not only maintenance of existing systems, envision and implement new systems, capable of transferring to industry as an application of new developments in technology.
Kabul Koşulları Türk öğrenciler için; Yükseköğretim Kurumu (YÖK) tarafından belirlenen yönetmelikler çerçevesinde, öğrenci kabulü ÖSYS olarak adlandırılan merkezi sınav sistemi ile yapılmaktadır. Değişim öğrencileri için; program ile eş program arasında imzalanan ikili anlaşmalar çerçevesinde öğrenci kabulü yapılmaktadır. Programın özel bir koşulu bulunmamaktadır. Öğrenci kabulünün idari işlemleri KOÜ Uluslararası İlişkiler Birimi tarafından yürütülmektedir. Ayrıca Almanya’nın FH Bohum Üniversitesi ile çifte diploma anlaşması da bulunmaktadır. Student admission is determined in accordance with the regulations of the Council of Higher Education. Turkish students who get the required base score from relevant test type in the central university placement test conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center) can register to the Mechatronics Engineering Department. Exchange students are accepted within the framework of bilateral agreements. There is not any specific admission condition other than the general requirements. The procedures of acceptance of students are conducted by KOU International Relations A double diploma agreement with the University of Applied Sciences in Bochum is also available. Those students who fulfill the conditions of the agreement are accepted to our department and are granted a degree.
Dereceyi Alabilme Koşulları, Kuralları Bu programda dereceyi alabilmek için; a) Toplam 240 AKTS kredisinin sağlanması, b) III. ve V. yarıyılda 4 AKTS, VI. yarıyılda 3 AKTS ve VIII. yarıyılda 5 AKTS karşılığı 10 iş günü talaşlı imalat stajı, 10 iş günü talaşsız imalat stajı, 10 iş günü elektrik-elektronik stajı, 10 iş günü işletme organizasyon stajı, 20 iş günü otomasyon stajı olmak üzere toplam 60 işgünü staj yapmaları, c) Öğrencinin programdaki tüm derslerini başarmış olması, d) Genel not ortalamasının 4,00 üzerinden en az 2,00 olması, e) VIII. yarıyılda öğrencinin, verilen bir konu üzerinde, tek başına yaptığı bir Bitirme çalışmasında başarılı olması gerekmektedir. In order to be awarded a bachelor’s degree it is required to a-) provide in total 240 ECTS credits b-) accomplish an internship of 60 work days 20 days of which is in manufacturing, 10 days electric-electronic, 10 days management and 20 days automation internship that have a retribution of 4 ECTS in the III. and in the V. semesters, 3 ECTS in the VI. semester and 5 ECTS in the VIII. semester. c-) succeed in all the courses in the program. d-) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 e-) submit a successful thesis in the VIII. Semester on an assigned topic.

In the age of rapidly progressing technology, the mission of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of Kocaeli University is to be a department where not only the maintenance of current systems is provided but also application and development of new systems are carried out and where the transfer of developments and improvements are applied to industrial practice are enabled.
Genel Bilgi Mekatronik; makina, elektrik-elektronik, kontrol ve bilgisayar mühendisliğini sinerjik bir şekilde birleştirerek, gelişmiş ürün, sistem ve işlemleri tasarlayan, kuran ve yöneten bir mühendislik dalıdır. Geliştirilen mekatronik ürünlerin temel özellikleri, çevrelerini algılamaları ve algıladıkları çevrelerin koşullarına uygun olarak akıllı karar verme mekanizmalarının olmasıdır. Bu ürünleri tasarlarken ve imal ederken makine imalatı, algılayıcılar, aktüatörler, kontrolörler,mikroişlemciler/mikrokontrolörler ve yazılım teknolojileri gibi çok farklı mühendislik alanlarını bir arada kullanır. Kocaeli Üniversitesi, Mekatronik Mühendisliği Bölümü 2000 yılında kurulmuştur. 05 ekim 2000 tarihinde FH Bochum Üniversitesi ile çifte diploma anlaşması sağlanmıştır. 1 yıl süreli İngilizce hazırlık programı uygulanmaktadır. İngilizce hazırlık sınavını başaranlar veya İngilizce hazırlık sınıfını başarı ile bitirenler isteğe bağlı Almanca hazırlık programında okuyabilirler. 2002-2003 öğretim yılından itibaren bir yılı hazırlık dört yılı lisans düzeyi olmak üzere lisans eğitimini vermeye devam etmektedir. Mechatronics is an engineering discipline which combines mechanical, electric-electronic, control and computer engineering in a synergic way and designs, establishes and manages developed products, systems and transactions. The basic property of mechatronic products is that they are able to perceive their environment and can make smart decision according to the conditions of the perceived environment. While designing and manufacturing these products it uses several engineering branches like machine manufacturing, sensors, actuators, controllers, microprocessors/microcontroller and information technologies. The department of Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Kocaeli was founded in 2000. On the 5th September 2000 a double diploma agreement was made with the University of Applied Sciences in Bochum. A student may attend the English prep program of one year. Those who pass English Language Proficiency Exam may enroll to German Language Preparatory Class optionally. Graduates of the program can continue their academic studies at master’s and then doctorate programs in the related fields of study on condition that they get the required score from related test parts of ALES (Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) and providing that they certify their foreign language proficiency through central examinations such as; TOEFL,YDS,etc.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
