Kabul Koşulları Yüksek lisans programına başvurabilmek için; mimarlık lisans diplomasına sahip olmak ve Akademik Lisansüstü Eğitim Sınavı’ndan başvurduğu programın puan türünde en az 55 standart puan veya GRE ya da GMAT sınavlarından eşdeğer bir puan almış olmak gerekir. Adayların, İngilizce/Fransızca/Almanca dillerinden herhangi biri için geçerli ulusal veya uluslararası dil sınavlarından üniversitenin belirleyeceği en az taban puana eş değer puanı almış olması gerekir. Başvuru koşullarını sağlayan adaylar arasından, mülakat yapılarak güz yarıyılı başında öğrenci alınır. Adayların başvuru işlemleri, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitü Müdürlüğü tarafından yürütülür. Mülakata gelirken öğrencilerden yanlarında akademik ve/veya uygulamaya yönelik çalışmalarını içeren bir dosya getirmeleri istenir. Başvurduğu programın puan türünden Akademik Lisansüstü Eğitim Sınav puanının veya GRE/GMAT puanının % 50’si, lisans mezuniyet not ortalamasının % 20’si ve mülakat notunun % 30’u değerlendirmede dikkate alınır. Adayın başarılı sayılabilmesi için, başarı değerlendirmesi/notunun en az 60 olması gerekir. Mülakat notu, 60’ın altında olan adaylar başarısız kabul edilir. Uluslararası öğrenciler, Yükseköğretim Kurulu tarafından belirlenen kurallar çerçevesinde uluslararası geçerliliği olan sınavlarla kabul edilmektedir. Değişim öğrencilerinin programa kabulü ikili anlaşmalar çerçevesinde yapılmakta ve Uluslararası İlişkiler Birimince yürütülmektedir. So as to be admitted to the program, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from relevant faculties. The bachelor’s degrees granted from universities other than Turkey shall be approved by the Council of Higher Education. Applicants must get a minimum score of 55 from the related test parts of ALES (Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) or equivalent grade from GMAT or GRE exams., and a minimum score of 50 from UDS or KPDS (Governmental Foreign Language Proficiency Test of English) or an equivalent grade from TOEFL, IELTS, CEFLE, ZDF for English, French or German languages. The applicants who fulfill the requirements above are conducted an exam by the institute. The admission quato is specified at the beginning of each semester by the Institute of Social Sciences. The candidates who fulfill the requirements of the application are interviewed and registered at the beginning of Fall semester. Application process is carried out by the Directorate of the Institute of Social Sciences. Students to be interviewed are asked to bring a file containing academic and/or practical works. The Points refers to the type of program Academic Graduate Education Exam score or GRE / GMAT score of 50%, 20% of undergraduate and graduate grade point, average grade of 30% are taken into consideration. Those who score less than 60 are regarded as "unsuccessful" and those who score the highest on avarage are admitted to the programme. International students will be accepted based on the rules set by the Board of Higher Education via internationally recognized exams. Exchange students are accepted within the framework of bilateral agreements and the process is carried out by International Relations Unit. The adoption of the national student is approved by Farabi Exchange Program Unit and the Office of Student Affairs carries out the acceptance of international students.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Depending on the nature of courses various instruments such as; midterms, final exmas, projects, seminars, presentations, field work, quizzes, assignments, practice, laboratory studies may be involved in the assessment process. The contribution of these instruments range between 30% - 70% and students are informed on the final evaluation of the system prior to the enrollment. Midterm exams and final exams are hold on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Students' achievement scores at the end of the semester is announced by the lecturer of the course. In order for a student to be eligible for final grading, s/he must attend at least 70% of the registered theoretical courses and 80% of practical and / or laboratory courses. Students who do not fulfill this condition is given (D) grade. Measurement and evaluation of ongoing study is turned into performance grades at the end of the assessment period. Performance grades are determined according to the studies carried out by the students during the semster. Evaluation of each study are scored out of 100.

The equivalences and coefficients of letter grades out of 100 points is as follows.
