Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

• Knows the historical development of Turkish; recognizes important works, authors, and periods of Turkish and world literature (Remembering).
• Knows language teaching programs and selects appropriate teaching strategies and assessment tools accordingly (Remembering).
• Explains the systems of Turkish (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics) comparatively and presents them with examples (Understanding).
• Explains language teaching programs in general and the Turkish language teaching program in particular, and defends the chosen teaching strategies and assessment tools with justification (Understanding).
• Teaches the historical development of Turkish; conducts analyses on the important works, authors, and periods of Turkish and world literature (Analysing).
• Conducts applied content analyses on the systems of Turkish (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics) (Analysing).
• Establishes the spiral structure between the basic language skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing) and organizes activities for these skills (Applying).
• Analyzes language teaching programs and reorganizes the appropriate teaching strategies and assessment tools accordingly. (Analysing).
• Transforms theoretical knowledge about the systems of Turkish (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics) for use in the four basic language skills (Creating).
• Creating new texts using critical and creative reading/writing skills (Creating).
• Organizes educational environments in the light of acquired theoretical and practical knowledge and introduces a series of innovations (Creating).
• Adheres to democracy and human rights; ethical, national, cultural, and universal values; national and international legal norms as well as laws and regulations in professional life (Evaluating).
• Uses thinking skills such as metacognition, problem-solving, creative thinking, and scientific processes in professional life (Applying).
