Councelling and Guidence program is appropriate for individual practice as well as academic works. In this context some areas the gradutes can work are as follows: Rehabilitation centers, career development centers, mental health centers, all kind of schools, hospitals.
Genel Bilgi Programımız okul psikolojik danışmanlığı bilim dalında, ülkemizdeki ilköğretim ve orta öğretimdeki okul psikolojik danışmanı ihtiyacını karşılamaya yönelik olarak, okul psikolojik danışmanı yetiştirilmektedir. Ülkemizokullarında psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik hizmetleri, 1950'li yıllarda, alanımızla ilgili eğitimi almış ilk bilim insanlarımızın (Prof. Dr. Feriha Baymur ve Prof. Dr. Hasan Tan) katkılarıyla, 1953-54 yılında ilk kez Gazi Eğitim Enstitüsü, Pedagoji ve Özel Eğitim Bölümlerinde ders programlarına rehberlik dersinin konulmasıyla ve 1955 yılında da Ankara Demirlibahçe İlkokulunda ilk Rehberlik Merkezinin açılmasıyla başlatılmıştır (Kuzgun, 1992). 1970-71 öğretim yılında da ilk olarak 24 okulda olmak üzere rehberlik hizmetleri resmen başlatılmıştır (Kepçeoğlu, 1994). Kocaeli Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Eğitim Bilimleri Bölümü'nde Eğitimde Psikolojik Hizmetler Anabilim Dalı ise 2007-2008 yılında lisans düzeyinde öğretim sunmaya başlamıştır. Anabilim dalımızda dört yardımcı doçent, bir öğretim görevlisi ve bir araştırma görevlisi olmak üzere toplam altı akademik personel hizmet vermektedir. Bölüm için hazırlanan ders programı, öğrencileri okul psikolojik danışmanlığı (rehber öğretmenlik) mesleğine hazırlamakla birlikte, psikolojik danışmanlık bilim dalının lisans üstü eğitimin temellerini oluşturacak bir yapıya da sahiptir. Kısaca söz konusu program okul öğrencilerimizin mezuniyet sonrasında: • Okul psikolojik danışmanı olarak devlet okulları ve özel okullarda, İlgili eğitim ve süpervizyonları tamamlamaları durumunda ise: • Rehabilitasyon merkezlerinde, • Ruh sağlığı danışmanı olarak ruh sağlığı alanında özel ruh sağlığı merkezlerinde, ruh sağlığı hizmeti veren resmi psikolojik danışmanlık merkezlerinde ve hastane ve polikliniklerde, • Ruh sağlığı danışmanı ve rehabilitasyon danışmanı olarak, ordu, emniyet güçleri ve tutukevlerinin ilgili birimlerinde • Aile ve evlilik danışmanlığı hizmeti veren merkez ve/veya birimlerde, • Üniversitelerin ilgili bölümlerinde akademik personel olarak iş bulmalarını kolaylaştıracaktır. In our program, school counseling education is offered in the bachelor of science level in order to supply school counselors and guidance practitioners for especially primary and secondary schools. In our country, counseling and guidance services was first started at Gazi Institute of Education by the contributions of forerunner scientists (Prof. Dr. Feriha Baymur, and Prof. Dr. Hasan Tan who had PhD and post-doctoral education in USA) in 1953-54. The first guidance course was incorporated in pedagogy and special education departments, and first guidance activities in schools started by the establishment of a guidance center at Ankara Demirlibahçe Primary School (Kuzgun, 1992). In 1970-71 education year, guidance services were officially established 24 more schools (Kepçeoğlu, 1994). Guidance and counseling program has been serving Bachelor of Science education at Kocaeli University Faculty of Education in 2007-2008 educational years. In the program, three assistant professors, one lecturer, and one research and teaching assistant have been working as academic staff. Our program acquires students to be a school counselor and guidance practitioner. It also acquires students to have a base for master and PhD education in counseling and counseling related areas. In a brief view, what a counseling program has opportunities for making career for our students after graduation are stated below: • As a school counselor in private and state schools After finishing related certifications and/or MSc/PhD programs: • As a rehabilitation counselor in related settings, • As a mental health counselor in governmental or private settings • As a family and marriage counselor in related settings. • As an academic personnel at related departments of universities

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
