Kabul Koşulları Bölüme kayıt yaptırmak için ÖSYM tarafından düzenlenen sınavları başarmış olmak gerekir. Yurt içi veya dışında eşdeğer bir programda öğrenim gören bir öğrenci, üniversite tarafından kontenjan açıldığı takdirde yatay geçiş için başvuru yapabilir. Öğrenci kabulü, başvuruda bulunan öğrencilerin başarı durumlarının değerlendirilmesi sonucu gerçekleşir. Students who get the required score from relevant test type in the central entrance exam conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center) can register to the department. Lateral transfer student of an equivalent program is also possible in case a quota is provided by the university. Students from domestic or foreign universities may apply for undergraduate transfer in case the university announces any quotas. Students are accepted after the evaluation of their academic standing. For detailed information, please follow the relevant articles of Kocaeli University Associate and Bachelor Degree Education and Exam Regulation. International or exchange students may take the courses offered in English. If those students have proficiency in Turkish language, they can take the courses offered in Turkish as well.

This programme intends including all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study, and it aims to provide scientific and practical understanding of the advertising profession. It also trains the students not only as an expert of the field who are competent to follow the advances and techniques in advertising but also to contribute to the scientific development of communication theory, advertising, public relations, marketing and consumer behavior.
Genel Bilgi Kocaeli Üniversitesi, İletişim Fakültesi, Reklamcılık Bölümü 2008 yılından beri lisans eğitimi vermektedir. Bölüm, alanında yetkin ve üst düzey donanıma sahip reklamcılar yetiştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Genç bir bölüm olmasına rağmen, Reklamcılık Bölümü kurulduğundan beri Kocaeli Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi içinde en yüksek dilimden öğrenci alan bölümdür. Department of Advertising satrted to offer education in 2008.Since then, the Department has aimed to raise advertising professionals equipped with professional knowledge and skills at high level. Although the department is a recently established one, it is hardly lacking the wisdom, professionalism and experience of Kocaeli University. Department of advertising aims to give an education mainly on creation and implementation of advertising, and media planning in order to fulfill the need for qualified employees within the advertising industry which grows along with Turkey’s developing market potential. The Department is a well recognized leader in preparing undergraduate students for careers in the field of advertising communications. The undergraduate program provides a solid background for our graduates who move into jobs in all aspects of advertising including design, copywriting, media management, campaigning and research on advertising effectiveness. Our program also provides a unique blend of communication and commerce in an industry-focused environment. Our varied curriculum combined with our philosophy of theory and practice, fosters true cross-disciplinary strategic thinking in our undergraduate program.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Reklamcılık bölümü mezunlarının iş alanları çeşitlidir. Bu bölümden mezun olanlar, özel şirketlerin halkla ilişkiler ve reklam departmanlarında, tanıtım ofislerinde, sivil toplum örgütlerinde, kamu kurum ve kuruluşlarında reklam ve pazarlama uzmanı olarak çalışabildikleri gibi, iletişim danışmanı olarak da görev yapabilmektedirler. Bölümden mezun olan öğrenciler, gazete, radyo, televizyon ve dergi gibi farklı medya kuruluşlarının tanıtım birimlerinde de çalışabilirler. Graduates of Department of Advertising are equipped to competently work in a variety of advertising and marketing specialist positions in private firms or public sector; in the hospitality industry; as information officers; as media experts/press relations; public/corporate affairs managers in private and civic administration or government departments; as marketing/advertising experts in the non profit sector, or as consultants. Their work ranges from taking part in central strategic planning of firms, to working in departments such as customer relations, creative design, copywriting, market research, or media planning. Upon a successful completion of the program, graduates can continue their academic studies at master’s and then doctorate programs in the related fields of study on condition that they meet the admission requirements.
Mezuniyet Koşulları Bu programdan mezun olabilmek için, öğrencilerin akademik danışmanlarının da yönlendirmesiyle her bir eğitim/öğretim yılı içindeki iki dönemde toplam 60 AKTS sağlamak koşuluyla 4 yıllık müfredattaki bütün derslerden başarılı olması, öğrenim süresince toplam 240 AKTS sağlaması ve genel not ortalamasının 4,00 üzerinden en az 2,00 olması gerekir. 4 yılın sonunda son ve genel bir sınava daha girilmez. In order to be awardeda bachelor degree in this programme, students have to succeed all the courses in 4-year curriculum on the condition that meeting 60 ECTS each year in two terms under direction of the academic supervisor, meeting the 240 ECTS requirement during the education period and having a grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00. There is no final special examination at the end of four years programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
